Solo Travel: Why Every Woman Should Travel Alone at Least Once

There’s something undeniably magical about stepping into the unknown, suitcase in hand, and venturing out into the world alone. For women especially, solo travel offers an empowering experience unlike any other. It’s not just about seeing new places; it’s about discovering yourself in ways you never thought possible.

Here’s why every woman should embrace the adventure of solo travel at least once in her life.

1. Rediscover Your Independence & Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

When you travel alone, you’re entirely in charge—choosing where to go, what to see, and how to spend your time. There’s no need to compromise or cater to anyone else’s schedule. This freedom lets you rediscover your independence and learn to trust your instincts.

Solo travel l pushes you to face fears and step outside your comfort zone.

You’ll quickly surprise yourself with how capable you are—navigating new cities, overcoming challenges, and making decisions on the fly. Every small victory, from finding your way through winding streets to ordering food in a language you don’t speak, boosts your confidence and self-reliance.

Our Journey: Overcoming the struggle of dealing with Spanish authorities and the “Ayuntamiento,” where you must go to get your foreign license, is a whole new level of success. The language barrier at the beginning of your journey can drive you to tears sitting opposite a police officer who won’t hand the insurance number to you. (necessary for opening a bank account, Phone account, work contract, rental contract, etc. ..You see the problem)

2. Connect with Yourself

In our busy lives, it’s easy to lose touch with who we truly are. Solo travel offers the rare gift of uninterrupted time with yourself. Without distractions, you have the space to reflect, dream, process your thoughts, and find a way back to you. Maybe for the first time in your life.

Our journey: Being exposed to sitting with nothing but your thoughts can be quite devastating and difficult, especially if you had a long period of stress and suppression before head. In my case (Ariane) the wall of thoughts hit me hard on one of my first solo trips as I was a master of procrastination and always keeping me busy. My way out of the dilemma: Journaling all of my thoughts.

3. Make New Connections

Traveling solo doesn’t mean you’re always alone. It’s often the opposite. When you’re by yourself, you’re more approachable and open to meeting new people.
Whether it’s a fellow traveler at a café or a local, eager to share their culture, solo travel often leads to meaningful connections that can turn into lifelong friendships.

Our Journey: That’s how the both of us met <3<3<3 We took the brave step to speak to one another despite being total strangers. (It’s also ok to tell a stranger your travel struggles! Not everything has to be ok! You’ll be surprised by how deep a brief travel acquaintance can grow on you.

4. Embrace the Freedom to Be Yourself

When you travel alone, there’s no one around to judge your choices. Want to spend an entire afternoon lounging on the beach? Go for it. Feel like waking up at 6 in the morning to start your day? Do it.

Solo travel allows you to embrace your true self without worrying about meeting anyone else’s expectations. It’s a chance to reconnect with what makes you happy and follow your intuition.

Our journey: I (Ariane), for example, love going to the clubs in Ibiza by myself. I take bathroom breaks whenever I want to and Go home whenever I want to. No adjusting to the needs of your travel buddies.

  • Trust your instincts: If something doesn’t feel right, listen to your gut and make a change.

  • Pack light: You’ll thank yourself when you’re navigating airports or hopping on and off buses.
